Belogent – Use | Dose | Side Effects

Belogent is a drug that contains the two active ingredients: betamethasone and gentamycin. It belongs to the group of medications called corticosteroids (betamethasone) in a combination with antibiotics (gentamycin).

Betamethasone is a corticosteroid used in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, inflammatory dermatitis, while Gentamycin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria and is used to eliminate the infections which accompany psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.

This medicine is useful in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis especially if these conditions are followed with an infection.


Belogent cream should be avoided in the following conditions:

  • If you are allergic to the active substances present in Beloderm (betamethasone and gentamycin). Symptoms of an allergy include:
    • rash,
    • itching,
    • redness.
  • If you have a viral skin infections (such as pox)
  • Liver disorder
  • If you have acne
  • Rosacea (facial redness)

Do not cover the area where you applied Belogent ointment or cream with a bandage.

Ointment or cream is not recommended for use on larger areas of the skin, especially in children. It should not be used in babies.

Avoid eye contact, because it can cause an eye irritation.


Do not use this medicament for longer than 3 weeks.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Belogent ointment or cream can be applied during pregnancy only if the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the child. Application of ointment or cream is not recommended during pregnancy.

If you are applying Belogent to your breast, you should avoid breastfeeding. Once you stop using it, you can start breastfeeding again after 48 hours.

Use and Dose

It should be applied in a thin layer to the affected area. You need to wash your hands before and after using.

It should be applied 2-3 times a day.

Do not cover the area to which you applied Belogent.

You should use this remedy as long as your doctor recommends so. Do not use it for longer than 3 weeks, unless your doctor recommended so.

Use with other medications (Interactions)

Tell your doctor if you are using other skin products.

Side effects

Belogent may cause the following side effects:

  1. itching,
  2. redness,
  3. acne,
  4. inflammation of the hair,
  5. increased hair growth,
  6. stretch marks,
  7. change of skin color,
  8. spot bleeding under the skin,
  9. the expansion of capillaries beneath the skin,
  10. dry skin,
  11. blistering of the skin,
  12. allergies and other.

Tell your doctor if you are experiencing any side effects.
