Thyromine is an OTC product manufactured in the USA and belongs to the natural products used to alleviate symptoms of a hypothyroidism. It contains five active ingredients, as follows:
- Ginger extract
- Nori (Japanese edible seaweed)
- Bovine powder
- Piper longum
Hypothyroidism is a very common disorder among Americans. The thyroid gland produces two very important hormones:
- Triiodothyronine (also known as T3)
- Thyroxine (also known as T4)
A lack of these hormones causes many metabolic disorders, considering that T3 and T4 are involved in lipid, protein and carb metabolism. Thus, lack of T3 and T4 leads to weight gain, high blood cholesterol, pain in the muscles and muscle weakness.
If you left this condition untreated, eventually it will become worse. You should consult your doctor and he/she will tell you what medications you should take.
Thyromine is intended only as adjunctive therapy in order to help you relieve the abovementioned symptoms of hypothyroidism. However, if your doctor has already recommended you a medicine, you should inform him/her if you plan to start taking Thyromine.
How Thyromine works?
Let's go through the clinical studies available for Thyromine's ingredients.
Ginger extract is evaluated as a valuable medicine for lowering cholesterol and triglycerides in patients with hypothyroidism.1 This is very important for your overall health, because it will reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and its complications - heart attack, thromboembolism and stroke. You may not feel better, because high cholesterol does not cause any symptoms, but you must control lipid levels in the blood, as it plays an essential role for your health.
Is a type of seaweed especially popular among the Japanese. Nori is a very rich source of iodine, and iodine is essential for synthesis of thyroid hormones. If you lack iodine, you can get hypothyroidism. High intake of iodine is very important for treatment of hypothyroidism.
L-Tyrosine works as an inhibitor of iodotyrosine deiodination which improve thyroid hormones synthesis and secretion.2 Thus, L-Tyrosine effectively increases levels of thyroid hormones.
Bovine powder is prepared from cattle milk and contains thyroid hormones from cows. It has been used for many years in patients with hypothyroidism and is efficacy has been proven in numerous clinical trials.
Piper longum boosts your metabolism and helps you get rid of the excessive pounds you gain due to the hypothyroidism. It will also alleviate symptoms of depression.
How should you take Thyromine?
Take one capsule per day, regardless of meals.
Thyromine side effects
There have been no reported adverse effects of Thyromine and this is it biggest advantage. It has a very good safety profile. However, seek medical advice if you have hypothyroidism because this condition may sometimes require use of "stronger" drugs. Thyromine is an OTC product and while it will help you relieve the symptoms, it is not a cure for this disease.
